Hive Learning Academy!
OUR PROGRAM
All classes are co-taught by the BEEKEEPERS, Nicole Severs and Andrea Speicher.
Small classes allow us to fulfill our mission to get to know your child well in a kind, supportive, nurturing classroom community.
All of our daily lessons and thematic units encompass the following:
LANGUAGE & LITERACY
Phonemic awareness, letter recognition, comprehension, and print concepts are developed through shared read-alouds, daily writing opportunities, nursery rhymes, and finger plays.
MATH
Daily hands-on learning opportunities allow children to make mathematical
connections and explore mathematical concepts and terms.
SCIENCE
Hands-on explorations spark inquiry, discovery, and investigation through the
use of technology and scientific tools.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Children will connect to the community by understanding themselves in relation to their families,
homes, schools, and the world around them.
ART
We encourage and create a learning environment that fosters the "process of creating art"
through the hands on exploration of tools, techniques, and materials.
SOCIAL EMOTIONAL
Classroom experiences nurture emotional security, positive self-concept,
manners, and respect for others.

Special Activities
AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE
ASL will be incorporated into your child's daily routines and lessons.
This multi-sensory approach to learning will help your child learn a new language while having a lot of fun!
PARENT PARTICIPATION
Parents are an integral part of our classroom community at Happiness Hive.
We warmly welcome you to participate in special classroom events and activities throughout the year.
FIELD TRIPS
The Bees will have opportunities to visit special places around our community as related to our
curriculum and monthly themes throughout the year.

For Your Information
GROSS MOTOR PLAY
Children thrive when they are given space to run and play.
Along with the physical health benefits, it allows children opportunities to build peer relationships.
Gross motor play is an integral part of our daily schedule at "The Hive".
CALENDAR
Happiness Hive Learning Academy will BEE in session from September through May.
A complete school calendar will be available in September.
CONFERENCES
Will be held 2 times per year for all students (fall & spring)
SNOW DAY POLICY
If Abington Heights school district is closed, Happiness Hive will BEE closed.
If Abington Heights has a two hour delay, we will follow a modified delay schedule.
