Meet the Beekeepers

Thank you so much for BUZZING by to learn more about our preschool! We are Nicole Severs and Andrea Speicher, "The BEEKEEPERS" at Happiness Hive Learning Academy. Together, we are the face, the heart, and the soul of "The HIVE". We had a shared dream and vision to open a preschool that embodies our passion for Early Childhood Education. After lots of hard work and determination, that dream became a reality when we opened our "HIVE" to our very first classes of HONEY BEES and BUMBLE BEES in 2013. We are both mothers to young children, and understand how difficult it can BEE to send our children off for their very first school experience. We firmly BEElieve that the preschool years should BEE an exciting time to play, explore, discover, and create. At Happiness Hive we are committed to facilitate this exciting transition by providing a magical school experience for you and your child. We are eternally grateful to the amazing families that have entrusted us with their most precious gifts. We look forward to the unBEElievable opportunity to BEE your child's teacher.
Mrs. Nicole Severs

Hello! I am Nicole Severs, one of BEEKEEPERS at "The HIVE". Ever since I was a little girl, I had two dreams...to BEEcome a mommy and a preschool teacher. I am so incredibly grateful every day that both of my dreams have come true with the gift of my 4 sons and the opening of Happiness Hive Learning Academy!
My "educational journey" began when I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Special Education from East Stroudsburg University. Upon graduation, I excitedly accepted a teaching position in a 4/5th grade Learning Support class in North Central Philadelphia. From there, I was offered an opportunity to teach kindergarten/1st grade learning support. While teaching full time, I went back to school on the weekends and began working towards completing my Master's Degree.
After getting married and relocating to the Lehigh Valley, I was offered a position as a first grade teacher. During that time, I was selected for "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" and earned my Master's Degree in Education with a Concentration in Instructional Strategies. My husband and I moved back to the Scranton area and I was so excited to take on my new role as a Stay-At-Home Mommy to my precious son, Anthony, and then Cole! While being at home, I pursued my love for American Sign Language and became an Advanced Signing Time Instructor for Signing Time Academy. I am a member of the Occupational Advisory Board for Child Care and Development at Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County. I am also a member of the Deaf American Society and NAEYC, the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
I earned my certification in Early Childhood Education from Keystone College, while pregnant with our third blessing, Max. We are so grateful and blessed that our prayers were once again answered, as we recently welcomed our precious angel, Jackson into our world!
I have always told my students, and my children that you should pursue your passions in life. I continue to BEE amazed and inspired by my children, our sweet BEES, their amazing families, and my incredible "Partner in Honey", Andrea.

Mrs. Andrea Speicher

Hello! My name is Andrea Speicher. I am the mother of three young children, and one of the BEEKEEPERS at "The HIVE". From a very young age, I always knew that I would BEE a teacher.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Penn State University. While at Penn State, I was selected as one of just 32 seniors to participate in an innovative yearlong student teaching experience through Penn State’s award winning Professional Development School. I had the unique opportunity to spend an entire school year working side by side with an incredible mentor teacher in a second grade classroom in State College. Upon graduation, I gratefully accepted a position as a first grade teacher at John Hydock Elementary School in Columbus, New Jersey. My experience as a first grade teacher further solidified my passion for Early Childhood Education.
In 2007, I took on a new and exciting role as a full time, stay at home mom when my husband and I welcomed our first son, Charlie. Two years later, our BEEutiful baby girl, Caroline, BUZZED into the world. The joy of watching my own children move through developmental milestones and develop language and literacy skills ignited a hunger to learn more about Early Literacy. In 2013, while pregnant with my third child, Joseph, I received a Postbaccalaureate Certificate in Family Literacy through Penn State's World Campus. In addition to learning more about how to foster young children's emerging language and literacy development, my coursework taught me how to support parents in their role as a child's first and most important teacher. Currently, I am a member of the Occupational Advisory Board for Child Care and Development at Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County and a member of the Community Council for Children's Advocacy Center. I am also a member of the Deaf American Society and NAEYC, the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
The opening of Happiness Hive Learning Academy is the culmination of a lifelong love of teaching and the dream to positively impact the lives of young children. I truly feel that I have found my calling at Happiness Hive. I continue to BEE amazed and inspired by my children, our sweet BEES, their amazing families, and my incredible "Partner in Honey", Nicole.
